Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give;
not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
[2 Corinthians 9: 7]
Stewardship is the way in which the people who compose the Body of Christ sacrifice and sanctify their time, talents, and treasure for the greater glory of Christ and His Church. We know, as Christians, that everything we have and everything we hold is given to us by Christ, Our Saviour. Every breath we take is a blessing, and is meant to be offered back to the God who first gave us life. When we offer up that which He gave us as a sacrifice to Him, we enter into the mystery of the sacrifice by which He wrought our salvation, when He was broken on the Cross for our sins. And when we see the ministries of the Church grow, and its mission expand, due to the grace God adds to our sacrificial offerings, we partake in the triumph of the Resurrection, which is meant to be poured forth as grace upon grace throughout the world.
In 2018 we saw a number of records set. We had more converts, more families join, more stewardship offered, more adult education sessions, and more weekly worship opportunities than we have ever had in our history as a parish. We saw the re-establishment of our GOYA chapter and a record number of students and staff at our Vacation Church School. We saw the solar panels go up on the roof of the Church, which will help both our parish and the planet, and we saw the beautiful icons which will complete our iconostasis. It was a year of blessings, and it has given us momentum as we seek to refine and expand our ministry to bring the light of Christ and His Holy Church to the people of the Commonwealth. Whether we harness this momentum and unleash our potential is up to you! Will you heed Christ's call, and become a steward today?
